The Heart & Diabetic Department is manned by senior Cardiologists. Coronary stenting is
routine and performed by most of the invasive cardiologists. Patients with high risk and
multi vessel involvement are also undertaken. Primary angioplasty, an approach of opening
blocked coronary artery during acute myocardial infarction, in place of thrombolysis is
practised in suitable cases. Non-coronary intervention deals with variety of cardiovascular
abnormalities. Subclavean, iliac, femoral and carotid artery balloon angioplasty and
stenting are being performed. Vascular dissection and aneurysm repair are also conducted
with covered stents.
The department also offers both inpatient and outpatient service and clinical facilities for
every type of diabetes problem. The focus is primarily on outpatient management of
endocrinal and metabolic diseases to prevent complications and hospital admissions. Patient
awareness is a key area of importance to manage these diseases effectively.
The consultant endocrinologist has been trained in some of the premier institutes in the
world and is capable of treating both adults and children. The team provides comprehensive
care for children with diabetes and educates them regarding their disease.
